WINE

As we're now in the thick of the "dog days" of summer we decided to break out some new wines that will help keep the "dogs" at bay. This week check out some unique European varietals, 3 grown right here in the states: * an AFFORDABLE Pinot Noir, * a new wine from one of the best Spanish importers in the world, and * a terrific red blend from a legend in the wine world. So come on in, cool off and taste at i.m.Wine this week-end!

2009 Grenache Blanc, Tangent Winery
Edna, San Luis Obispo, CA
A surprisingly rich, viscous, and full-bodied white wine! It has nice minerality, and is chalky and crisp. Cantaloupe and honeydew are the predominant flavors, and it shows off a lovely bright acidity.

Bottle: $17.99 Special: $16.19 Case: $15.29

2008 Muller Thurgau "Cuvee A," Anne Amie
Willamette Valley, Oregon
Shows all the focus of its European cousins but in a much lusher, rounded style. Aromas and flavours of white peaches, mint, smoke and minerals on a medium-bodied frame this wine that cries out to be drunk over the dog days of summer.

Bottle: $16.99 Special: $15.29 Case: $14.44

2007 Pinot Noir "Annabella", Michael Pozzan Winery
Sonoma Valley, CA
This wine has great extraction and depth with tasty plum and black cherry flavors. It has a dusty, ripe nose with an intricate, earthy finish. Soft, supple with wonderful concentration and medium tannins.
Bottle: $17.99 Special: $16.19 Case: $15.29

2008 Jeune Red, Chateau Musar
Bekaa Valley, Lebanon
An unoaked blend of Cinsault, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon that shows copious amounts of spicy red cherry, ripe plum and raspberry aromas with a hint of cedar and white pepper and lots of juicy, vivid red fruit flavours in the mouth. The fresher, younger style of the wine also offers an attractive lushness and purity, which is particularly evident on the long, balanced finish.
90pts Wine Advocate
Bottle: $16.99 Special: $15.29 Case: $14.44

2007 Tinto Fino "Cepa 21", Bodegas Cepa 21
Ribera Del Duero, Castilla Leon, Spain
"The 2007 Cepa 21 raises the bar slightly. Also 100% Tinto Fino, it exhibits a bouquet of toasty oak, pencil lead, spice box, and black fruits. On the palate it displays an elegant personality with ample succulent fruit, good depth, and a smooth texture."

Bottle: $25.99 Special: $23.39 Case: $22.09
