June 25th-26th, 2010
Please join us for our FREE Wine and Beer Tastings - Friday from 3-7 pm and Saturday 1-6; this week we are tasting:
WINE
With Independence Day just two weeks away we've decided to champion the home team and show great wines from the USA. And what better place to start than the state that was named after our first president? This week's wines come from Milbrandt Vineyards, a winery that, until recently, supplied fruit to some of the biggest names in Washington State (Charles Smith, Ch Ste Michelle's "Eroica", etc.) That changed in 2007 when brothers Butch and Jerry Milbrandt decided to start making wines on their own.
This week we feature Milbrandt's "Traditional" line-up. These are wonderfully balanced, fruit driven wines. So stop on by this weekend and taste some great wines!
From Milbrandt Vineyards, Columbia Valley WA:
2008 Pinot Gris "Tradition"
A bright, clean, crisp and energizing white that features a swath of aromas and flavors ranging from apples, Anjou pears and green melons, to wet stone, minerals and earth.
Bottle: $14.99 Special: $13.49 Case: $12.74
2006 Chardonnay "Tradition"
Shows ripe, tropical fruit aromas (peaches and pineapples) backed by coconut, maple and vanilla. The flavors are rich and bold and well-supported by firm acids and an underlying minerality.
Bottle: $14.99 Special: $13.49 Case: $12.74
2007 Merlot "Tradition"
Comprised of 80% Merlot with small amounts of Cab, Malbec, and Petite Sirah in the final blend, the nose combines varietal and regional signatures and delivers forward fruit flavors of ripe plums, cherries, and blueberries. Generously cut with wonderful aromatics, texture and complexity.
Bottle: $16.99 Special: $15.29 Case: $14.44
2007 Cab Sauv "Tradition"
A very approachable and generous style with ripe fruit, currants, blackberries and vanilla. The palate is ripe, layered and warm with gentle tannins and possesses the dark color, rich flavor and firm character that is unique to Eastern Washington.
Bottle: $16.99 Special: $15.29 Case: $14.44
BEER
Three new tastes this week to refresh the palate, enlighten the mind, and invigorate the senses. Enjoy!
"The Saint"
Crispin Ciders (Minneapolis, MN)
Naturally fermented with Belgian Trappist yeasts using a premium apple cider blend. The Saint's artisanal Cloudy Filtration style uses racked unfiltered apple wine blended with pure organic maple syrup, a touch of apple juice, no added sugar or preservatives, and is filtered cold to retain flavor and complexity. 6.9% ABV
Regular $7.49 22oz. Special $6.74 22oz.
17th Anniversary Dry Hopped Black Lager
Avery (Boulder, CO)
"After years of commemorating our anniversary with deliciously wild and weird ales, we at Avery decided to mix it up a bit and create our first Anniversary lager. SEVENTEEN is a celebration and study of the aromas and flavors of German hops. And knowing our fetish for those beautiful green cones, you can be confident that the contents of this bottle are well hopped for your olfactory pleasure. Many thanks to all and we hope you enjoy our lupulin dissertation! " 8.69% abv
Regular $9.99 22oz. Special $8.99 22oz.
Exit #6 Wallonian Rye Ale
Flying Fish Brewing (Cherry Hill, NJ)
Exit 6 starts out as a deceptively simple recipe-pale malt augmented by 20 percent rye, fermented with a classic Belgian yeast. But then it gets interesting with the hops: English East Kent Goldings, Slovenian Styrian Goldings and Japanese Sorachi Ace. The result is a rich saffron color with a spicy character from the rye and lemony citrus notes from the unique Sorachi Ace hops. Cheers! 7.5% abv
Regular $10.99 750ml. Special $9.89 750ml.
