The Wines of Domaine Select
2008 Gruner Veltliner Steinagrund, Leth (Wagram, Austria)
Bottle: $16.99 Special: $15.29 Case: $14.44
Offers an excellent combination of lush peach and blood orange fruit, substantiality and peppery minerality. The wine has enjoyed a long stay on its lees, helping to enhance and emphasize the wine’s textural richness and sense of extract.
2006 Riesling Reserve Felser Weinberger, Leth (Wagram, Austria)
Bottle: $18.99 Special: $17.09 Case: $16.14
A vibrant dry Riesling, with rich melon, pear and ripe apple aromas with much finesse and substance on the palate. Noticeable but fine minerality notes. Perfectly balanced sugar-acidity level, racy and lingering finish.
2005 Mirabile Syrah (Sicily, Italy)
Bottle: $18.99 Special: $17.09 Case: $16.14
This interpretation of Syrah, meant to highlight the freshness and fragrance of the fruit, is expressed in the intense array of scents. A mix of small fruits and hints of undergrowth and ripe fruit set this wine apart. In the mouth it presents a sturdy structure whose component parts are balanced. The finish offers a closing touch that is delicate but persistent.
2006 Aglianico Irpina, Vinosia (Campania, Italy)
Bottle: $18.99 Special: $17.09 Case: $16.14
Aglianico was introduced by the Ancient Greeks along the Mediterranean coast at the time of the formation of colonies in Italy around 700 B.C.E. The wine shows a deep, inky purple with aromas of ripe black plum, anise and violets. A medium-full body with very good concentration, very ripe with subtle notes of black spice. Lively acidity and refined tannins, this is quite a young wine and is a real mouthful.
2007 Primitivo, Vinosia (Campagna, Italy)
Bottle: $14.99 Special: $13.49 Case: $12.74
A delicious, value-priced wine from Apulia packed with generous, super-ripe fruit that flows onto the palate with excellent length. Drink this accessible, full-bodied red over the next year or two.
