26th-27th of February, 2010
Please join us for our FREE Wine and Beer Tastings - Friday from 3-7 pm and Saturday 1-6; this week we are tasting:
WINE
As we've mentioned previously, the 2007 vintage from France is generally looked upon as one of the best vintages of the past 30 years. These wines show incredible intensity and balance, are extremely drinkable and pair wonderfully with food. Just as important to us, they represent some of the best returns on quality for the money spent. So stop on by and try some great wines this weekend.
2007 Perrin et Fils Cotes du Rhone Villages
Cotes du Rhone Villages, France
"Big, chocolaty, sweet kirsch liqueur, loamy soil, pepper, and earth aromas are followed by a full-bodied wine with sweet tannin. Full-bodied, rich, and loaded with Provencal in character." 90pts Wine Advocate
Bottle: $14.99 Special: $13.49 Case: $12.74
2007 Chapoutier Crozes Hermitage "Petite Ruche"
Crozes Hermitage, Rhone Valley, France
Dense, opulent, full-bodied, chewy and rich, it boasts a dense ruby/purple color in addition to a big, smoky perfume of road tar, scorched earth, blackberries, grilled meats, herbs, and spice box.
Bottle: $20.99 Special: $18.99 Case: $17.84
2008 Grenache Blanc/Viognier, Ch. de la Tuilerie
Costiere de Nimes, France
"Shows flavours delightfully redolent of white peach, acacia, honeysuckle, and melon; this is satisfyingly juicy, and it finishes softly but braced with peppy acidity." 88pts Wine Advocate
Bottle: $16.99 Special: $15.29 Case: $14.44
2007 "Les Novices," Abbaye Sylva Plana
Faugères, Languedoc-Roussillon, France
Shows a deep ruby color with rich spicy aromas and flavors of berry fruit, licorice, pepper, cherry; tremendous body and length.
Bottle: $16.99 Special: $15.29 Case: $14.44
BEER
To help knock back the cold we're showing a few more "big boys" this weekend.
"Collaboration (not Litigation) Ale" Batch #4
Avery Brewing/Russian River Brewing(Boulder, CO)
"Salvation. The name of two intricate Belgian-style ales, created by Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing and Adam Avery of Avery Brewing. After becoming friends a few years ago, they realized they both had a Salvation in their lineups. Was it going to be a problem? Should someone relinquish the name rights? In fact, it was quickly decided that they should blend the brews to catch the best qualities of each and create an even more complex and rich libation. The end result is the "Collaboration, not Litigation Ale!"
$9.99 22oz.
Old Guardian Barleywine (Limited 2010 release)
Stone Brewing (Escondido, CA)
A stunning representation of all that is big and bold in beer. This beautiful, bold barleywine has a massive malt character and a near-critical level of hop notes. Stone Old Guardian Barleywine is great drinking now and can be cellared for years.
$7.99 22oz.
Siren Noire Imperial Chocolate Stout
Clipper City Brewing/Heavy Seas (Baltimore, MD)
Sirens are the sea nymphs of legend whose beautiful songs lured sailors off course to their demise. Mere mortals are unable to defy their sweet call. Can you resist the dark?
$6.99 22oz.
