“Wines for Holiday Entertaining”

2007 Sauvignon Blanc, Slusser Road Vineyard, Hanna Vineyards
(Russian River Valley, California)
Made entirely from Hanna’s 50 acre Slusser Road Vineyard the 2007 Sauvignon Blanc is as fresh, vibrant, and evocative of the grapes themselves. A vibrant straw color with a tinge of green the wine opens to reveal excellent fruit, a creamy texture, and a spicy, melony nose with underlying smoke and minerals.  Fresh and quaffable, this wine is as easy to drink and as food friendly a wine you could hope to find for the holidays.
Bottle: $17.99   Special: $16.19   Case: $15.29

2007 Belleruche Côtes-du-Rhône Blanc, M. Chapoutier (Rhône Valley, France)
The great terroiriste and biodynamic farmer of the northern Rhône Valley, Michel Chapoutier, says that one of the most difficult tasks of any vintner is to make a serious, high-quality wine, yet have it remain a good value, an undertaking his "Belleruche" wines accomplish admirably. “Probably one of the best white Côtes-du-Rhônes Michel Chapoutier has ever produced in my experience is the 2007 Côtes-du-Rhône “Belleruche”. A blend of Marsanne, Bourboulenc, and Grenache Blanc, the wine offers up gloriously ripe but restrained notes of apricot, peach, and mineral that jump from the glass. A deliciously fruity, clean, medium-bodied wine that is bursting at the seams with personality and character.” 89pts WA
Bottle: $11.99   Special: $10.79   Case: $10.19

2006 Belleruche Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge, M. Chapoutier (Rhône Valley, France)
“The 2006 Côtes-du-Rhône Belleruche is another strong effort in this vintage from Michel Chapoutier. The wine is already delicious, showing notes of plum, black currant, and cherry in a straightforward, fruity style with good body and seductive aromatics of spice, dried herbs and dried earth.  A blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah, the Belleruche Rouge is a great introduction to one of the world's most celebrated wine appellations as well as one of its most storied producers and should drink well for 4-5 years.” 89pts WA
Bottle: $11.99   Special: $10.79   Case: $10.19

2007 Malbec, TAMARI Cellars (Mendoza, Argentina)
The 2007 TAMARI Malbec comes from the Uco Valley and high zones of the Mendoza River in Argentina.   A deep intense reddish-purple color with expressive and intense aromas violets and jasmine, plums, cherries and chocolate with secondary notes of hazelnuts, almonds and cinnamon result from the oak aging.   A high profile of fruit but still concentrated and complete, with big ripe tannins and a persistent and elegant finish that invites you to drink more wine.
Bottle: $14.99   Special: $13.49   Case: $12.74

2004 Merlot, Rutherford Hill Cellars (Napa Valley, California)
The 2004 vintage of Rutherford Hill Merlot is rich with aromas of berries and cocoa. Flavors of dark cherries and chocolate abound in this soft and fleshy, balanced Merlot. The finish is silky and lingering with a hint of vanilla, cinnamon and tobacco. The wine performs wonderfully on its own merits or as an aperitif or when paired with traditional hearty holiday foods like roasts, lamb and steak.
Bottle: $21.99   Special: $19.79   Case: $18.69
