2010 Merlot VDP des Cevennes, Domaine de Gournier

Vins de Pays des Cevennes, Languedoc Roussillon, France

This medium to dark ruby-colored wine explodes with aromas of violets, blueberries, and spice. On the palate, this beauty bursts with thick layers of concentrated, supple dark berries, chocolate, spices, with some firm ripe tannins in its long, balanced finish.

2009 Tempranillo, Montebuena

Rioja, Spain

“Dark ruby-colored, it offers an appealing perfume of spice box, leather, tobacco, and blackberry. On the palate it is packed with ripe fruit, has outstanding concentration, and impeccable balance. It is a great bargain that offers a great view of the 2009 vintage in Rioja and northern Spain in general.”

2009 Los Dos Red, Bodega Almira

Campo De Borja, Aragon, Spain

“The 2009 Los Dos is an unoaked blend of 85% Garnacha and 15% Syrah. Deep crimson-colored, it reveals a Gamay-like, fruity, black cherry and blueberry-scented bouquet. Ripe and succulent on the palate with no hard edges and a long balanced finish.”

2010 Petite Cassagne Blanc, Chateau Grande Cassagne

Costieres de Nimes, Languedoc Roussillon, France

Produced from a blend of 60% Roussanne and 40% Rolle (Vermentino in Italy) aged in new oak for 90 days.  Grande Cassagne's 2010 White reveals aromas of white peach, pear, white pepper. On the palate it offers up flavours of pears, apples, white flowers, orange rinds, and notes of new wood can be found in this rich, dense, tangy, well-made wine.

2011 Chenin Blanc, Essay Cellars

West Cape, South Africa

Composed of 90% Chenin Blanc with 10% Viognier the wine shows complexity and richness with aromas of spiced pear and musk melon aromas.  Medium bodied but with bright acidity it shows a subtly leesy, smoke-tinged, but rather bitter palate, and those same characteristics dominate this wine’s undeniably lasting but faintly warm finish.

2010 Riesling, Cono Sur

Colchagua, Rapel Valley, Chile

Light straw-colored, it has a lovely perfume of spring flowers, citrus, and white peach. Made in a mostly dry style (there’s the barest hint of sweetness that comes off more as fruit then anything), it is bright and lively on the palate, nicely balanced, and has a pure crisp finish.
