2007 Heartland Stickleback White
"Light yellow. Fresh lime, jasmine and anise aromas are deepened by a suave honey quality. Fleshy citrus and orchard fruit flavors are firmed by refreshing citrus pith and wet stone qualities, gaining weight with air. Pliant but nervy, with good finishing cut."  88pts. Intrnatl Wine Center

2008 Verdelho/Sauvignon Blanc, Sitios de Bodega Con Class (Spain)
For six generations, the Sanz family has been making wines in Rueda. In 2005, Ricardo Sanz created started producing his wines under the new Sitios de Bodega label in Rueda. The project distinguishes his modern approach from that of his father, who still produces wines under different labels.  Crisp, refreshing, and floral with a medium straw-color, it reveals aromas and flavors of melons and citrus in a refreshing style. This excellent value offers surprising complexity for a wine of its humble price.

2008 Domaine Gournier Rose (France)
A light ruby-salmon in the glass, it is fully loaded with depth, complexity and personality. On the palate rich, lively strawberry, raspberry and cherry flavors are present. It shows impressive balance, medium body, a smooth mouth-feel and a dry finish.

2007 Dolium Malbec (Argentina)
Deep, intense wild blueberry and purple fruits showcase this varietal grown in the gravelly soils of the Lunlunta and Perdriel regions of Mendoza, Argentina. The deeply saturated blue-purple color attests to the wine's power and concentration, and the flavor is pure ripe berry, plum, with a nuance of sweet tobacco. The tannins are sleek and silky lingering generously into a rich mouth-filling finish.

2006 Bodegas Castano Monastrell
Excellent example of the Monastrell grape in its early years. Intense aromas of black fruit (plums) and less ripe red fruit (cranberries, mulberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants). On the palate it is fruity and fresh, and alive with tannins which leave a pleasant aftertaste.

2007 Zinfandel “Portrait of a Mutt”, Mutt Lynch Winery (USA)
Their 2007 Portrait of a Mutt Zinfandel is a blend of 75% Zinfandel and 25% Carignane. While Ian thought it was a delicious example of 75+ year old Dry Creek Valley vines, here is the winery's tasting note. "This is our "biggest" mutt blend in years.  Aromas and flavors of ripe bing cherries and dark berries are followed by dark chocolate and spice.  It is simply BIG - complex fruit flavors, good tannin structure, integrated oak flavors and a super-long finish."
